Committee Chairman Dave Rice has announced the dates for the 2022 Christmas home and business decorating judging.

The 2022 competition schedule is as follows: December 12-14 – Preliminary judging will take place from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on all three nights. December 16 – Final judging wagon ride to select the 2022 Home Decor winner.

December 12 and 13: For the house decorating contest, the island is divided into nine zones and teams of judges select the best candidates in each zone by visiting all the streets on the island. Says Rice, “We hope to surpass last year’s record number of homes (2,015) and businesses (150) judged last year as the ‘Light Up Christmas’ community.” ”

At the Christmas meeting in July, Rice welcomed and introduced to the committee new committee member Rachel Schenk, retailer relations manager for the Marco branch of First Horizon Bank. “Having a representative from First Horizon Bank is a great addition to the committee,” Rice said. First Horizon Bank is sponsoring the committee’s final evening kick-off event as the committee selects the 2022 winner.
