6 Dallas-Fort Worth Restaurants With Christmas Decorations You Must See

If you visit an over-the-top Christmas shop in Dallas-Fort Worth, make it Campo Verde restaurant in Arlington.

The amount of lights, garlands and Santas inside this Tex-Mex restaurant would make Rudolph blush.

“It’s pretty wild,” admits owner James Williams.

Half a million lights hang from the ceiling, walls and furniture for six weeks. In small nooks they placed tiny scenes like Santa Claus in his sleigh, wedged under a personal computer. On a recent visit to Campo Verde, I watched two little girls play on the floor next to Santa as the staff busily rang to order sour cream enchiladas and bean and cheese nachos.

Despite the Christmas period being a busy season for Campo Verde, it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays due to staffing issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Campo Verde does not take reservations. So the remaining five days it is open each week around Christmas, customers should expect a wait.

At least there will be something to watch.

The decorations take so long to put up that Williams staff keep all 50 Santa Clauses and 30 Christmas trees up until April.

The stuff upstairs? They leave it there all year.

Campo Verde is at 2918 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Reservations not available.
