CONNEAUT LAKE — The Conneaut Lake Community Development Committee will be donating illuminated Christmas decorations for Water Street next Christmas.
Sandy Eldridge, a committee representative, received approval from Conneaut Lake Borough Council for the purchase at last week’s council meeting.
Eldridge said the proposed decoration is a white snowflake about 24 to 30 inches in diameter.
Snowflakes would be mounted on sidewalks and not pavement via horizontal banner arms like those at Ice House Park or possibly vertical mounting with metal strips. Electricity would be supplied by outgoing sockets on the poles.
The committee would not provide for the installation, removal, storage or long-term maintenance of the decorations.
The proposal received the unanimous approval of the members of the council.
In other committee news, chairman Bill Eldridge reported that the group had received another $10,000 donation from Glen Moss, a former Conneaut Lake resident. This is the eighth annual $10,000 contribution he has made, Eldridge said.
Eldridge said Moss suggested the contribution could be used for a $55,000 matching grant needed for a Go Green light grant received from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation or for plans to extend Ernst Trail to the Lake Conneaut.
