Sacramento County deputies and firefighters worked to brighten up a family’s vacation after their apartment was damaged by fire. Four units were damaged in a fire that broke out in the North Highlands on Wednesday. One of these displaced families received essential items and toys from deputies and Metro fire teams on Thursday. “It’s just touching, it’s deep. I’m holding back the tears now – just to see how much people care about a tragic moment, ”said Chris White Jr., who lost his home in the fire. “They made my children’s Christmas for them.” Donations came from Sacramento Sheriff’s Toy Project, a year-round program to help families in need in the county.
