Hallmark Channel crosses the holiday season with “The Christmas House 2”

Halloween is still over a month away, but Hallmark Channel is already loading the sled with its annual list of holiday movies.

The Christmas-obsessed cable network has unveiled a first look at the 41 original holiday films that aired this year on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. One title with which we are particularly delighted to put in our stocking is a sequel to Christmas house, Hallmark’s first original holiday movie starring a same-sex couple.

The new film, tentatively titled Christmas house 2: take down these rooms, reunites the cast of the original: Robert Buckley, Jonathan Bennett, Ana Ayora, Treat Williams, Sharon Lawrence and Brad Harder, who play the Mitchell family. While Hallmark didn’t offer any images or footage from the festive sequel, he did share the synopsis. Looks like the Mitchell brothers (Buckley and Bennett) are in a fierce competition “to see who can create the best Christmas house”.

Bennett also shared the news on his Instagram with a photo of him reuniting his Christmas house casting mates. “The same family, the same love, but twice the hilarity. Buckle up, that sleigh takes off, ”Bennett captioned the cheerful photo.

As NewNowNext Previously reported, Christmas house premiered last November on Hallmark Channel. In case you’re in an eggnog-induced fog and you forget, the official synopsis is as follows:

Working through tough decisions, Mitchell family matriarch Phylis (Lawrence) and Patriarch Bill (Williams) summoned their two grown sons – TV star Mike Wade (Buckley) and Brandon Wade (Bennett) – to home for the holidays. They hope that reuniting the family to recreate the Christmas house will help them find a solution and make a memorable vacation for the whole family and the community. As Brandon and her husband Jake (Harder) return home, they eagerly await a call regarding the adoption of their first child. Meanwhile, Mike reconnects with Andi (Ayora), his high school girlfriend.

“Our festive table is bigger and more welcoming than ever. This year’s films reflect our most diverse portrayal of talent, stories, and families, including Christmas house, featuring a gay couple looking to adopt their first child, and starring Jonathan Bennett in an ensemble cast, ”said Michelle Vicary, executive vice president of programming at Hallmark, last year.

Christmas house 2 isn’t the only LGBTQ holiday movie we’ll have to wait for under the tree. Netflix will also be released Single until the end with Michael Urie, Philemon Chambers and Luke MacFarlane.

From Netflix’s description, Single until the end follows Peter (Michael Urie), who “is desperate to avoid his family’s judgment of his perpetual single status. He convinces his best friend Nick to join him for the holidays and pretend that they are now a couple. But when Peter’s mother sets him up on a blind date with his handsome trainer James, the plan goes awry.

No word yet on when Christmas house 2 premieres, but Hallmark’s holiday movie list begins Oct. 22.

I write about drag queens. Dolly Parton once ruffled my hair and told me I was “just the cutest thing ever”.
