Helena Announces 2020 Christmas House Contest – Shelby County Reporter

HELENA — Do you think you have one of the best decorated houses for Christmas in Helena? If so, your home may be eligible for three awards from the Helena Beautification Board.

Helena’s Beautification Committee has announced the start of the 2020 Christmas House Contest and is now accepting entries.

This year’s competition will be divided into three distinct categories, as follows:

  • Most Elegant Decorated House (Helena Beautiful Award)
  • Most Decorated House (Clark Griswold Award)
  • Light Up the Street Award

The winners of each category will receive a triage panel declaring them the winners.

Those who wish to enter the competition can nominate their own house or someone else’s house. All entries must be submitted by Tuesday, December 15. After the nominations, a map of all nominated houses will be released and voting will begin on December 16 and continue until December 24 at 6 p.m. The winners will be announced on Christmas Eve.

“It’s become a Christmas tradition in Helena,” says Chris VanCleave, Helena City Councilman. “Families walk together and identify their favorites, then name them online. This, along with our annual tree lighting, Christmas market and parade, all come together to create a memorable holiday season for Helena residents.

The Beautification Council encourages residents to begin making nominations by December 15. To name a winning home, visit HelenaBeautiful.com to submit your nomination.
