Holiday stores suggest buying Christmas decorations early due to high demand and shipping delays

BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) – Wednesday might just be the first day of fall, but some local retailers are suggesting that you start shopping for Christmas decorations now.

There is a high demand for holiday decoration and some of the drinks that many people enjoy during the holidays.

Nathan Gordon is the president of Christmas Central which owns the Dave stores. He said they have pre-ordered many Christmas decorations this year in anticipation of yet another high demand.

“This will be a banner year for the Christmas industry,” Gordon said. “Right now, a big part of the challenge is also getting the items in from overseas so that we can continue to meet demand. “

He said the more people were at home, the more they decorated; hence the increase in demand.

Pat Woyshner owns Woyshner’s Christmas Shoppe and has said his experience is the same.

“We ordered in January and have been ordering since because some companies tell us some things will not be available, so we are trying to replace them with other products,” she said.

Something else in high demand and in short supply right now: alcohol, especially tequila and some vodkas and whiskeys. Donna Domagala manages Straight Up Wines and Liquors.

“There is a shortage of agave right now in Mexico and it’s the only place that can make tequila,” she said. “We kind of prepared for this, we knew it was coming, so we ordered a lot of things when we could and we also bought new products because we knew other things weren’t going to be available. . “

While some people’s minds may still be on fall, the holiday season is approaching. Gordon and Woyshner both suggest buying your decorations as soon as possible.

“People are buying Christmas and they’re buying a lot right now,” Gordon said.

He said he expects this strong demand to continue until 2022.
