The house, adorned with Christmas decorations, plays a starring role in the hit 1990 film as the target of the unfortunate criminals who come to have many near-death experiences at the hands of the resourceful Kevin.

And it’s back in the spotlight this festive season as new research today reveals the value of a choice of properties used as film and TV locations.

Real estate portal move the streets says he has revealed the current market value of some of the most iconic Christmas homes on the big and small screen.

Highclere Castle in Berkshire where Downton Abbey was filmed

Starting with the main location of the much-loved period drama – whose festive specials were filmed in the North East – it’s the priciest of the chosen properties.

The castle, in the heart of Berkshire, was used as the Crawley family’s on-screen home.

He is estimated to have a market value of £137m, according to MoveStreets.

Sherlock Houses – 221b Baker Street

Christmas has become a popular fixture in the TV series and the sharp sleuth’s famous central London address is being offered for a hefty £4.4million.

Absolutely fabulous – Holland Park Avenue

Edina Monsoon’s home is also in London – W11 – and the current market value of her townhouse is said to be around £3.3million.

Home Alone – Winnetka, Chicago

The impressive McCallister residence is located in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, where the famous house is worth an estimated £2.3million.

Del Boy’s apartment at Nelson Mandela House in this part of London has been awarded a surprising £513,000.

Harry Potter – 4 Privet Drive in Bracknell

The boy wizard never got to enjoy a festive spirit during the Christmas season at the Dursley family home where he was due to return after school term.

This address in Bracknell is valued at just under £400,000, according to MoveStreets.

Gavin and Stacey – Trinity Street, Barry

Other party family favorites also live in rather more humble abodes, including Stacey and Gwen West from this much-loved series.

Their house in Wales is said to have a current value of £229,000.

The property roundup, which used data from PropertyData, Home, Rightmove and Zillow, also includes:

James Bond family home – Skyfall Lodge, Glencoe, Scotland, worth £2million; Buddy’s dad’s Manhattan flat at Elf – £1.2m; Bridget Jones Borough Market apartment, £1.2million; Will Freeman’s bachelor pad – played by Hugh Grant – in About A Boy, £949,000 and the snowy country house owned by Iris (Kate Winslet) in The Holiday at £675,000.
