Mum splits opinion after admitting she never wraps her kids’ Christmas presents

A mum has split the internet after admitting she doesn’t wrap her children’s presents on Christmas Day.

The woman said she never wrapped Christmas presents, but spread all her children’s presents on a chair.

The mother posted on a popular parenting Facebook group, prompting hundreds of people to respond in the comments – some stunned by her actions.

She admitted she thought she was in the minority, but many mothers confessed to doing the same.

The mum wrote, “How many here are NOT wrapping Santa’s presents? I think I’m in the minority! Ours are just displayed on a chair each!”

The woman said she had never wrapped Christmas presents, but spread all of her children’s presents on a chair.

The post received over 1,400 comments, with some people agreeing.

One said she didn’t wrap presents because seeing her children’s faces when they saw all the presents together was “amazing”.

She said: “We don’t wrap Santa’s stuff… And when I was a kid, my Santa stuff was never wrapped. We had so many gifts wrapped under the tree by parents. Those are the children’s faces when they see it all at once…Amazing.”

Another agreed: “When I was little they weren’t wrapped up and I loved that. Everything was ready to use or play with, but with my own kids they always expected them to be enveloped.”

Another mum said she once wrapped presents and her kids didn’t approve.

She said, “We don’t. I blamed myself for packing last year because everyone did it and the kids HATED it! So back to not packing this year.”

The woman said she had never wrapped Christmas presents, but spread all of her children’s presents on a chair.

Another mum said her children preferred unwrapped gifts.

She said: “My parents never wrapped Santa’s presents so I kept the tradition going because I loved it as a kid, not knowing which toy to go to first etc. C was just as magical.

“We still had gifts wrapped under the ‘Mommy and Daddy’ tree. Best of both worlds.

“I asked my eldest daughter now – she doesn’t believe it – what she liked best and she told me unapologetically as she loved seeing it all. Their reactions were priceless. I think it depends on how which each person was raised.”

However, other people were stunned that some parents didn’t wrap their children’s Christmas presents.

One said: “I’m really shocked at how many people don’t wrap?! Do you have to stick to the Santa Claus story? He wraps the presents and puts them under the tree ?seen the Polar Express?!”

Another agreed: “I’ve never known anyone not to wrap presents other than big presents, bikes etc. I even wrap dogs. I’m shocked.”

Another said: “We pack everything – even the stuff in the stockings! I loved unpacking everything as a kid. My kids get so excited wondering what’s in it. I think that adds to excitement.”

A mum said she hated waking up to unwrapped presents on Christmas Day. She said: “As a kid Santa wouldn’t wrap my presents and I didn’t like it because I could look inside my stocking and see EVERYTHING and then the surprise was over. J I wanted them wrapped every year, so each one was its own surprise. Anyway, Santa wraps his presents for my kids.”

Another said it was all part of the excitement of the day. She said, “They must be wrapped! That’s part of the excitement!! I love watching them unwrap their presents all excited and their little faces light up!!”

“I’ll be honest, even pets get presents from Santa and they’re always wrapped. Tearing the paper and discovering every surprise is half the fun!” added another.

Another added: “The unboxing is huge for the kids, it’s all part of the excitement and the build. I would never wrap my kids presents, they would be absolutely gutted.”
