Everyone has their reasons for considering the winter holidays the most wonderful time of the year. For us, these are natural Christmas decorations. From evergreen wreaths sprinkled with fresh cranberries to pine cones made into ornaments, decorations made from nature are often as deliciously fragrant as they are aesthetically pleasing.

Whether you’re starting to decorate Thanksgiving weekend or just before Christmas Eve, outfitting your home with anything you might find outdoors is never a bad idea. Don’t worry, we’re not saying you need to head out into the snow and look for decor, we’ve got some must-haves that will make sprucing up your home super easy.

If you’re not in the mood to DIY your ornaments, garlands and wreaths from sticks and berries you’ve found wandering around your garden, we understand. Many of our favorite stores like West Elm and Etsy have jumped on the natural Christmas ornament bandwagon and sell everything from stocking stuffers to birch tree ornaments.

The only downside to all-natural decor is that it probably won’t last into the New Year, so we won’t judge whether you opt for whimsical pieces simply inspired by nature. After all, they’re meant to be recycled every year, and what’s better than that? No matter what you end up buying, you’ll be glad to know that turning your home into a natural winter wonderland is easier than you think.

When can you start decorating for Christmas?

Contrary to popular opinion, there are no rules when it comes to holiday decorating. Although the most common weekend to kick off the decorating process is Thanksgiving, many people start before and after.

How long should Christmas decorations be left in place?

Jessica Cherner is Beautiful house Associate Shopping Editor and begins her Christmas decorating long before Thanksgiving. She puts a lot of thought into her decorating projects, so everything on this neatly curated list is something she also plans to make her own.
